About Us
Since Royall Framing started trading in 1990 they quickly became known as one of the best framers in the region and were in fact the first in the South West of England to be awarded the prestigeous title of "Guild Commended Framer" of which they are quite rightly very proud.
Becoming a Guild Commended Framer (GCF) involved having to pass an examination (both practical and theory) which lasted a full day and only framers who showed that they had full understanding of conservation techniques would be able to pass.
The GCF qualification was introduced into the UK in 1994 and was intended to assist members of the public to differentiate between a good and a bad framer.
As in every profession (and picture framing is no different) there are still qualified and unqualified people offering their services to the public.
Even now Royall Framing are still the only qualified picture framers in the north Bristol area.
As well as being a Guild Commended Framer Mike Royall is also an
qualified adult education teacher and since 1995 has been teaching
people, on a one to one basis, how to frame professionally and importantly
all of his courses have received full accreditation by the Fine Art
Trade Guild.
For a number of years Mike was also a Director of the Fine Art Trade Guild (www.fineart.co.uk) which is the art and framing industry's governing body. |
